The Western Canadian Baseball League season is in full swing and there are a number of players we’re excited to renew acquaintances with this summer.

Opening Day for the Western Canadian Baseball League is set for Thursday, May 28th across Alberta and Saskatchewan and teams are ready to begin their pursuit of the Harry Hallis Memorial Trophy, which is awarded annually to the WCBL champion.

With that in mind, let’s take a closer look at each club and see what we can expect from them during the 2026 season.

Chance Encounter

Even Chance Descalchuk has a tough time describing the freshman season he’s having.

The Regina native was in a league of his own stepping onto the field with Miles Community College, finishing the year with a .452 batting average, 14 home runs, 64 runs batted in and 16 stolen bases in 41 games.

The Western Canadian Baseball League (WCBL) has released its schedule for the 2026 season.

Opening Day takes place on Thursday, May 28th with five games in two provinces.

CBN All-Canadians Teams Feature WCBL Talent

The Canadian Baseball Network has released its trio of All-Canadian Teams and Western Canadian Baseball League players figure prominently in the honours.

Bob Elliott, the founder of the CBN, revealed the first, second and third team lineups in staggered announcements that wrapped up on Nov. 4th.

WCBL Names 2025 Award Winners

The Western Canadian Baseball League (WCBL) has determined its most outstanding performers for the 2025 season.

The summer collegiate circuit that calls Alberta and Saskatchewan home has unveiled All-Star Teams, Most Valuable Players, the Rookie of the Year, the Most Outstanding Canadian, the Most Outstanding Pitcher, the Top Relief Pitcher, the Coach of the Year and the Mitch Ball Memorial Award winner.
