MacDonald Takes Over From Brotzel

The Regina Red Sox are undergoing a major baseball operations shakeup.

The Western Canadian Baseball League (WCBL) franchise announced that longtime general manager Gary Brotzel – a founding member of the team – was stepping down and that Mitch MacDonald was being promoted from the role of assistant general manager to GM.

Even fervent Western Canadian Baseball League fans were probably taken by surprise by the major Regina Red Sox news last week.

The club announced it was being acquired by Queen City Sports and Entertainment – the owners of the Western Hockey League’s Regina Pats.
