WCBL Homer Hopefuls Selected

The contestants for the Western Canadian Baseball League’s long-ball competition have been chosen.

A dozen sluggers – one representative from each WCBL club – have been picked to participate in the SR Bats Home Run Derby, which is part of the league’s 2024 All-Star Game festivities that are taking place on July 20th at Seaman Stadium in Okotoks.

Holding Steady

There’s little movement in the Western Canadian Baseball League (WCBL) Power Rankings this week, compared to last week, but the potential for more risers and fallers remains.

While the top four spots are secure for now, there has been some change in the middle of the standings.

It was a homecoming like no other for Tyler Vanneste.

The Warman, Saskatchewan native was able to play in his old high school digs in Saskatoon during a recent roadtrip to visit the Berries.

He also welcomed his Medicine Hat Mavericks teammates to his parents’ home for a delicious feast.

Riding an 11-game winning streak (and counting), the Sylvan Lake Gulls have taken over top spot in the weekly WCBL Power Rankings.

However, their position will be put to the test with a series this week against the #2-ranked Okotoks Dawgs.
