Odds are you’ve heard the festive favourite, Sleigh Ride, which was originally an instrumental song from Leroy Anderson before it was popularized by Johnny Mathis, Ella Fitzgerald and The Ronettes.
Well, we’ve taken that Christmas classic and put our own baseball spin on it, in this case an ode to the game’s pitchers. Please enjoy K Ride, as sung to the tune of Sleigh Ride:
Just hear those baseball bats swinging,
Whiff, whiff, whiffing too.
Come on, it’s lovely weather
For a K ride together with you.
Outside the sun is shining
And friends are calling “strike two,”
Come on, it’s lovely weather
For a K ride together with you.
Giddy up, giddy up, giddy up,
Let’s go, let’s get to The Show,
We’re riding in a wonderland of pros.
Giddy up, giddy up, giddy up,
It’s grand, with a ball in your hand,
We’re pitching along with a song
Of a beautiful diamond land.
Our throws are nice and rosy
With Buster Posey are we,
We’re battery mates together
Like two birds of a feather would be.
Let’s take that mound before us
And sling a strike or two.
Come on, it’s lovely weather
For a K ride together with you.
There’s a champagne party
At the locker of El Presidente.
It’ll be the perfect ending for a perfect game.
We’ll be throwing like Jonah Tong,
We love to pitch from the mound top.
In the bleachers while we watch,
The Vulcan-grip changeups drop. Drop! Drop! Drop!
There’s a happy feeling
Nothing in the world can buy,
When bullpen aces strikeout the hard-hitting guy.
It’ll nearly be like a picture painted by Vin Scully describing outfield dives.
These wonderful things are the things
We remember all through our lives!
Just hear those baseball bats swinging,
Whiff, whiff, whiffing too.
Come on, it’s lovely weather
For a K ride together with you.
Outside the sun is shining
And friends are calling “strike two,”
Come on, it’s lovely weather
For a K ride together with you.
